Elections 2022: Candidates

Gavin Bruce was born in Buenos Aires. He studied at the Asociación de Productores de Seguros (Argentina) and the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK). Since 1983 he has directed the family insurance business, founded in 1948. He is also a trustee at the Asociación Civil Educativa Escuela Escocesa San Andrés (ACEESA) and the British Hospital. Gavin is a member of the Irish folk music group "The BA Kings" and has three children.

Gavin Bruce, nacido en Buenos Aires, estudió en la Asociación de Productores de Seguros (Argentina) y en el Chartered Insurance Institute (Reino Unido). Desde 1983 ha dirigido la empresa familiar de seguros, fundada en 1948. Asimismo, es un asociado ("trustee") de la Asociación Civil Educativa Escuela Escocesa San Andrés (ACEESA) y del British Hospital. Gavin es un miembro del grupo de música folk irlandesa "The BA Kings" y tiene tres hijos.

Janet Bruce, a Reydon Boarding School former pupil, has taught English and History for many years, first in Buenos Aires and then in Mendoza. She is now retired and teaches privately. Janet also lived in Scotland for a few years, where she worked for a charity. As the Mendoza ABCC District Representative, she is trying to bring the community together and engaged in new projects.

Janet Bruce, exalumna del Colegio Reydon, se ha dedicado a la enseñanza de inglés e historia por muchos años, primero en Buenos Aires y luego en Mendoza. Janet vivió en Escocia por unos años, donde trabajó para una ONG. Como Representante del Distrito Mendoza del ABCC está intentando reunir a la comunidad e involucrada en nuevos proyectos.

Denise is a Lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires. She also has a Master`s Degree in Corporate Legal Advice from the same university and an MBA from Universidad de San Andrés. Her work experience developed within the corporate sector, where she discovered her interest in the area of administration. She held permanent positions at several multinational companies (Atlas Copco, Hoechst, Clariant). She is presently Chief Executive of ESSARP, a non-profit organization that assembles English bilingual schools in Argentina.

Denise es abogada (UBA) y también cuenta con una maestría en asesoramiento jurídico para empresas (UBA) y un MBA de la Universidad San Andrés. Su experiencia laboral se desarrolló en empresas multinacionales (Atlas Copco, Hoechst, Clariant) , donde descubrió su interés en la administración. En la actualidad es Directora Ejecutiva de ESSARP, una organización sin fines de lucro que aglutina a escuelas bilingües en Argentina.

Veronica Hortis, brought up in Rosario, studied at the  British Hospital Nursing School, is a “Licenciada en Enfermeria” (Universidad Austral) and took courses at the University of Manchester. She initially worked at the British Hospital and was then the Head Nurse at St George's College North. In 1999 she returned to the British Hospital to understudy Matron Doreen Dover`s functions previous to becoming full-fledged Matron of the British Hospital until 2021. Both Veronica and her husband are active in British community activities.

Verónica Hortis, criada en Rosario, estudió en la Escuela de Enfermería del Hospital Británico, es Licenciada en Enfermería (Universidad Austral) y siguió cursos en la Universidad de Manchester. Inicialmente trabajó en el Hospital Británico, siendo luego la Enfermera en St George's College North. En 1999 volvió al Hospital Británico, donde trabajó con Doreen Dover para familiarizarse con las funciones de la Directora de Enfermería antes de asumir ese cargo, que ejerció hasta 2021. Tanto Verónica como su marido participan activamente en iniciativas comunitarias de la comunidad británica.

Ralph Kirby has been a very active member of the community in organisations such as the Old Georgian Club, the Cultura Británica in Quilmes, St George’s College and, most recently, as Chairman of the British Hospital. His wide experience is key in helping us navigate some of the challenges we face. 

Ralph Kirby ha sido un miembro muy activo de la comunidad en organizaciones tales como el Club de Exalumnos del Colegio San Jorge, la Cultura Británica de Quilmes, el Colegio San Jorge, y, más recientemente, como Presidente del Hospital Británico. Su amplia experiencia es clave para ayudarnos a navegar algunos de los desafíos que enfrentamos. 

Ronald MacGaul is a lawyer, prosecutor and mediator with a wide working experience in the fields of Civil , Commercial, Employment and Family law. He has worked at banks (Banco Roberts, HSBC) and, since 2010, in the justice sector and the Tribunal de Faltas in Almirante Brown. Ronald is currently the Chairman of the English Club in Lomas de Zamora and the Secretary of the Santa Catalina Protestant Cemetery in Lomas de Zamora. 

Ronald MacGaul es abogado, procurador y mediador. Cuenta con una amplia experiencia en el ejercicio de la profesión, en materia Civil, Comercial, Laboral y Familia. Su actividad profesional se ha desarrollado en el sector bancario (Banco Roberts, HSBC) y desde 2010 en el poder judicial y el Tribunal de Faltas de Almirante Brown. Es el actual Presidente del Club Inglés de Lomas de Zamora y Secretario del Cementerio de Disidentes Santa Catalina de Lomas de Zamora.

George Page was born in Olivos, Buenos Aires. He was schooled in La Paz, Entre Rios, and in La Cumbre, Cordoba (Fairview School). He has a degree in Agricultural Engineering (Univ. Nac. de La Plata) and a post graduate degree in Applied Mechanics and Business Administration. After a long career in the senior management of different international corporations (Caterpillar Tractor, John Deere, BHA and Tamrock), he retired and currently farms his own land in Pergamino. George is a one-digit handicap golfer. He is married, has a daughter and three grandchildren.

George Page nació en Olivos, Buenos Aires. Fue al colegio en La Paz, Entre Ríos, y en La Cumbre, Cordoba (Fairview School). Es Ingeniero Agrónomo  (Univ. Nac. de La Plata) y tiene un posgrado en Mecánica Aplicada y Administración de Empresas. Después de una larga carrera profesional como gerente senior en corporaciones internacionales (Caterpillar Tractor, John Deere, BHA. y Tamrock), se ha retirado y actualmente explota su campo en Pergamino. George es jugador de golf con un handicap de un dígito. Está casado, tiene una hija y tres nietos.

Raymond Paterson was born in Quilmes and grew up in a number of different places across Argentina. He is a Licenciado en Administración and former tennis coach. At 25 he started working in accountancy at the Canadian Embassy for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. In less than a year he was appointed Senior Accountant and currently is the Common Services Officer. His main duties are in accounting, finance and human resources. Raymond is married and is the father of twins.

Raymond Paterson, nacido en Quilmes y criado por todo el país, es Licenciado en Administración y ex entrenador de tenis. A los 25 años ingresó como asistente contable en la Embajada de Canadá en Argentina, Paraguay y Uruguay. En menos de un año fue nombrado Senior Accountant y actualmento es el Common Services Officer de dicha embajada. Sus tareas principales son el área contable, financiera y recursos humanos. Raymond está casado y es padre de mellizos.
