Writer and journalist Andrew Graham-Yooll passes away aged 75.
5 July 2019
It is with great sadness that we can confirm that ex-Buenos Aires Herald editor and weekly Times columnist Andrew Graham-Yooll has died in London. An icon of the English-speaking community, the Argentine-born writer was a titanic figure in local journalism.
Graham-Yooll, a former editor of the Buenos Aires Herald and a weekly columnist for the Buenos Aires Times from our very first edition, will be sorely missed by all of us at this publication.
Andrew died on Friday night in London, just 12 hours after having travelled to the city to attend the marriage of one of his granddaughters.
He was due to deliver a lecture in the English capital on July 23 at the residence of the Argentine Ambassador to the UK, Carlos Sersale di Cerisano, detailing his time working at the Herald.
In his typically humorous and humble style, he had titled it: “A Little History of the Buenos Aires Herald: Paté, Brandy and Bombs.”
We would like to express our condolences and support to his family and loved ones.
Rest in peace, Andrew.
